The season in South America has been known to start as early as the beginning of June and run until the end of October. The core season however is mid June through July, August & September into early October.
Snoventures take bookings from the middle of June until late September or early October (depends on snow).
The last two weeks of July are the national holidays in both Chile & Argentina, so the busiest time of the ski season. Prices at this time can increase significantly with availability being harder to secure. It is advisable to book public transport in advance if you plan to travel around at this time. Lift queues / lines are also longer during the holidays. Chile also have a national holiday for their independence celebrations. This is usually a week taken around the 18th September, Independence Day, however it is normally possible to secure reservations at this time.
Valle Nevado is between 1 & 1.5 hours from Santiago and the airport therefore often he most convenient resort to visit if your schedule is not open ended.
Buenos Aires is not close to any major ski resort and it is usually necessary to fly closer to the ski resorts.
After submitting your initial enquiry, Snoventures will endeavour to provide the most suitable recommendations and options for your proposed ski holiday vacation or ski tour. Once you have selected and we have confirmed availability on your behalf, your booking is confirmed once a deposit has been paid. The balance is then due 10 weeks prior to the start of your holiday vacation or tour and any additions or amendments, such as ski equipment hire, can be made prior to this final payment.
Once final payment has been made full details of your booking can be provided immediately although this is normally provided two to three weeks prior to departure unless you request otherwise. In the interim and before any payment is made full itineraries and resort reservation numbers can be supplied which will remain as your booking numbers throughout.
At Snoventures we work both as an tour operator and also as an agent for other relevant and suitable products and services. The majority of our ski vacations and holidays are booked directly with the ski resorts and your contract is with the said ski resort and their own booking conditions apply. In instances where we provide services from private or individual suppliers, whilst your contract is with the said supplier, Snoventures can act on your behalf in the unlikely event of their being need to resolve any issues. Our guided ski tours are run and operated by third parties and/or ski tour companies we work very closely with. Where the tour is not operated by Snoventures, your contract is with the individual ski tour company. Full details of suppliers are provided for all bookings.
By keeping your trip to the main season, the likelihood of this is very unlikely however, in the unfortunate event of their being insufficient snow for any lifts in resort to open you should seek assistance from your holiday insurance company. If Snoventures are able to secure any refunds on your behalf, these will be passed to you less a nominal administration charge.
Snoventures insist without exception that all our clients take out sufficient and suitable ski and travel insurance for their complete trip before leaving their country of residence. Particular attention such be paid to the cover included in any policy e.g. if you could be going off-piste ensure your policy covers you for this as rescue can be extremely expensive. If you have an extended trip ensure your policy covers you for the whole trip. Our insurance page will give you more further details on possible suppliers of ski and travel insurance
It is very difficult to find work that pays anything worthwhile in Chile or Argentina. The local labour is quite cheap and there appears to be an abundance of well qualified ski and snowboard instructors. Our advice is to save up and visit without the need to work. If you head down to South America expecting to find work you are likely to be disappointed. More Info Here
