Ski Insurance
Winter Sports Insurance is An Essential Part of Every Ski or Snowboard Trip
Not only do we insist on you having full medical and rescue cover in your selected policy we also recommend full off-piste cover. Even if you are not planning to venture off-piste or into the backcountry it is always possible to get disorientated for example in a whiteout. Good winter sports insurance policies now include off-piste cover, but be sure to check the limitations and their definitions of off-piste.
Some of the south American resorts will give medical and rescue cover if you pay an additional premium when purchasing your lift ticket. Beware however as this will not normally cover you off-piste and certainly not in the backcountry, and cover is likely to be at a very low level.
Also be aware that 'free' insurance often provided with bank accounts or credit card accounts is usually very basic, so be sure to check the cover and conditions (see below).
Please note: Arranging insurance cover once you have left your normal country of residence can be extremely difficult and in some cases impossible. Take out your ski insurance now!
