The adventure begins in the tiny town of San Esteban, where a 4x4 vehicle takes skiers up to 8,825 feet to the Ski Arpa base camp, Rancho Avalanchas, a picturesque stone refugio backcountry shelter) and cafe. From here, skiers ride Snowcats to the upper peaks of the resort, reaching altitudes as high as an astounding 12,500 feet. From here it's up to 3,500 vertical feet of intermediate to expert terrain that is entirely above tree line.
Ski Arpa offers a pristine environment that gives skiers the chance to soak in the drama and beauty of the awesome Andean Mountain Range, make turns in virgin powder and quietly watch condors soar overhead or guanacos (a cousin of the llama) slowly making their way across a ridgeline. Ski Arpa's two Snowcats each have a capacity of 14 passengers. There are no lifts here, and therefore no lift lines, just you, your friends and endless skiing opportunities.
Ski Arpa also offers skiers and snowboarders a definitive Chilean-style experience when compared to international-style ski resorts. Multiple-day packages organized by Santiago Adventures can also include a taste of Chilean culture, including wine tasting at local vineyards, lodging at a traditional 19th-century hacienda or a 4-star spa/hotel, regional cuisine and the chance to share time with local Chileans.
Given its proximity to Santiago, Ski Arpa can be visited for the day, either using transportation provided by the resort or by arriving in your own 4x4 rental vehicle. A day trip to Ski Arpa is the perfect getaway for visitors with little time in Santiago, or for those seeking an exciting add-on adventure to their planned vacation in Chile.
Ski Arpa Limitada is the lifelong work of Toni Sponar, a native of Austria with a lifetime of ski experience including: ski instructing, ski guiding, ski area management and ski industry consulting. Toni greets and welcomes visitors in German, English or Spanish. Toni first came to Chile in the 1960s and was enchanted by the skiing opportunities available in the Andean peaks. Ski Arpa is a work of love, a place of immense freedom yet intimacy with your surroundings and friends.
Ski Arpa is recommended for advanced skiers. There is an additional fee for a mandatory ski guide to assure that you experience incredible skiing in a safe environment. Our ski guides can also point out the best terrain on any given day, adding value to your visit.

A full day ticket at Ski Arpa starts at $200/person, depending on group size, and includes four rides in the cat with 3000+ vertical feet per ride. Each additional ride is $40/person.

Ski Arpa Accommodation Options

The Definitive Chilean Experience!

Ski Arpa with Santiago Adventures offers multiple-day packages that include lodging, meals and transportation, and add-on visits to hot springs and top-notch wineries in the Aconcagua Valley. Not only will you spend your days carving turns in deep powder, you'll also immerse yourself in Chilean culture, enjoying regional cuisine, historic accommodations, and nightly conversation with locals. Ski Arpa packages offer lodging at four different properties, each suited to a variety of tastes and budgets.

Termas de Jahuel
This historic and beautifully renovated resort is nestled in the foothills of the Andes, near San Felipe and about a 60-minute scenic drive from Ski Arpa. Termas de Jahuel features indoor and outdoor thermal pools, massage and steam baths for relaxing after a hard day on the slopes. Visitors to Termas de Jahuel will find cozy, ultra-comfortable guestrooms that are fully stocked with amenities such as mineralized spring-water showers and satellite TV. Trails through scented forest wind around the resort, and the hotel has both a casual restaurant and elegant dining area. www.jahuel.cl.

Hacienda Casa San Regis
Take a step back in time at the historic, 19th-century Hacienda Casa San Regis, one of the more unique lodging options in the Aconcagua Valley, located 50 minutes from Ski Arpa. The former manor home of an expansive 40,000 acre estate, Casa San Regis is now a bed & breakfast, offering simple yet comfortable accommodations with an antique flair. Your hosts, Marcela and Alexis, offer warm hospitality and personalized service, often joining guests for dinner and giving insight into Chilean culture and history. The roaring fireplace in the living room is an excellent place to unwind after a long day of skiing. www.casasanregis.cl.

Termas del Corazon
A traditional, 3-star hotel and spa located about 50 minutes from Ski Arpa, Termas del Corazon is run by descendents of an Italian and Germany couple who immigrated 60 years ago, bringing European spa traditions with them. Offering heated swimming pools, sauna and massage, Termas del Corazon is a good bet for skiers and riders seeking relaxation at more economical prices than Termas de Jahuel.. www.termaselcorazon.cl.

Hotel Plaza
This hotel is our budget option, whose two advantages are a low price and a location near the plaza in Los Andes that allows travelers to explore a traditional pueblo after their day of skiing. The hotel could best be considered a 2-star hotel: safe and clean but very basic.
