Skiing & Snowboarding Resorts in South America
Chile has the more well developed ski areas and resorts of South America, closely followed by Argentina. Numerous resorts cover the Chilean Andes from just north of Santiago to Southern Patagonia.
Argentina has a great selection of ski ski resorts including some relatively new ones such as Cerro castor in Ushuaia to the World famous Las Leñas in Mendoza province.
Skiing & Snowboarding in Bolivia
Just one ... Chacaltaya ski resort in Bolivia claims to be the highest lift served skiing in the World. It used to be an old motor engine running a pulley to get you up the mountain. Often nowadays there is insufficient snow for skiing.
Snoventures do not run tours to ski or snowboard in Bolivia!
It is also possible to ski tour some areas of Bolivia's however this requires specialised guiding and altitude awareness.
Skiing & Snowboarding in Ecuador
There are no known ski resorts in Ecuador. It is however possible to arrange guided ski touring in some areas of the country particularly on some of Ecuador's higher volcanoes, many of which are active. This requires specialised guiding and altitude awareness and is not something Snoventures arrange.
Skiing & Snowboarding in Peru
There are no known ski resorts in Peru although it is possible to arrange guided ski touring in some areas of the country. This requires specialised guiding and altitude awareness and is not something Snoventures can arrange for you.
Skiing & Snowboarding in Venezuela
It has been reported that it is possible to ski in Venezuela, however our understanding is that the can get some snow on one of the peaks in the jungle near to Angel Falls where it is possible to ski. The novelty factor gives it some publicity I guess!
Skiing & Snowboarding in Antarctica
Kite skiing has been used recently as a mode of transport on successful polar expeditions. We are still waiting to hear news of any other skiing or snowboarding in Antarctica.
